We are not a retail shop, but we do have pieces that we make available for samples and small orders. Most orders are custom compressed after they are ordered and often take about one month to receive. The planks listed here are compressed and ship within 7 to 10 days from the order date. Use these planks for your sample needs or for small projects. We build up an inventory of these planks from time to time because of bundle combinations needed during the compression process where additional planks have to be added to make up a full bundle, or as offcuts from in-house projects. These planks are the same quality as custom compressed planks.
You should have a band saw available to re-saw these planks into sizes you can use. Compressed planks are not usually perfectly straight, sometimes quite bowed. They do not need to be straight lined - you are going to bend them after all, but use a band saw for sawing and put the convex side against the fence and against the table.
Minimum order is $75 on small orders (this page)
Fed Ex Ground shipping cost runs 15% to 20% of wood cost for US 48. We are a production facility, not a retail shop, and regret that we do not accept rush or express orders. The online order system does allow express options to be calculated. If we receive an overage on freight, we'll refund it.
International Orders: Often, the shipping cost is not calculated correctly when you order. Shipping overages are billed by PayPal. International orders can easily cost 50% to 100% of the order cost for the shipping. Check ahead for accurate totals on international orders. The mixed species shorts and sample bundles are a great way to try out compressed hardwood. Or, if your needs are for shorter lengths anyway, these bundles offer a lot of value for the amount of wood included. The species will include a lot of maple and beech, but you may also get ash, red oak, white oak, walnut, and sometimes others, depending on what is available when you order. You will need a band saw to re-saw the compressed planks into smaller parts for bending.

Buy the knot:
Knots are often available in Beech, Maple, Cherry, Red Oak, White Oak and other species. Please specify first and second choices for species if you have a preference. Sizes may vary a bit, but they won't be smaller than you order. The Cherry knot at left is the knot that we normally bend for this piece. Some of the pictures show longer strips of wood that are bent into more complex knots. If you want one of those, just email for a price chris.mroz@puretimber.com .
